Your project, updated as you build.
One command turns any project folder into a live page on xcelit.
It picks up the work you've already done, keeps your page updated as you build, and gives your team one place to show what they're making.
01 — Start
One command. That's it.
Open your terminal inside your project folder:
Sign in in your browser, and xcelit takes care of the rest.
- Creates your project page — named after your folder.
- Adds your existing work — so your page starts with something on it.
- Keeps it updated — new work is picked up as you build.
- Connects your tools — Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Gemini CLI and more.
- Gives you your project link — ready to share when you are.
You only need to set it up once.
Requirements: Node.js 18 or newer. Your project doesn't need to be on GitHub — if it's a folder on your computer, xcelit can work with it.
02 — Your code stays yours
We show the work. Not your code.
xcelit doesn't need to read or store what's inside your files.
What xcelit can send
- Notes you write when saving work
- Files you changed
- Lines added or removed
- Your name
- When the work happened
What xcelit never sends
- The contents of your files
- Passwords or API keys
- Unsaved work
- Files outside your project folder
Before anything is sent, xcelit shows you what is about to be shared.
Your project page is private until you choose to share it.
Your sign-in stays on your computer, outside your project folder, so it can't accidentally become part of your code.
03 — Commands
Most people only need one.
Set up this project. You only need to do this once.
Connect tools like Stripe, Vercel or Linear.
See what this folder is connected to.
Send work that hasn't reached xcelit yet.
Join a project someone on your team has already set up.
Connect this folder to an existing xcelit project.
Sign out of xcelit on this computer.
04 — Connect your tools
Bring the numbers people can verify.
Connect the tools you already use and your project page can show information directly from them.
You don't need to connect anything. Your xcelit page works without integrations.
Vercel · Netlify
Show your live site and how often you ship updates.
Stripe · Razorpay · Paddle
Show verified revenue instead of asking people to take your word for it.
Linear · GitHub Issues
Show what your team planned, finished and is working on.
PostHog · Analytics
Show how people are using what you've built.
GitHub
Bring in work from teammates working from their own computers.
Claude · MCP
Let your coding assistant work with your xcelit project.
Connect a tool with:
xcelit will show you what is available and guide you through each connection.
05 — Build with your team
Everyone builds. One project keeps the record.
When you set up xcelit, it creates:
.xcelit/project.json
It's a small file that tells xcelit which project this folder belongs to. It contains no secrets. Commit it with your code.
A teammate can then run:
Once you've added them to the project, their work can appear on the same project page under their own name.
No extra reporting. No copying updates into another tool. Just keep building.
06 — Something not working?
Quick fixes.
“Could not determine executable to run”
Your computer may have an older copy of xcelit. Run npx xcelit@latest init, then carry on as normal.
“History already recorded”
That's fine — xcelit already has that work.
“This folder isn’t linked to a project”
Check you're inside the right project folder, then run xcelit init.
“Your sign-in isn’t valid anymore”
Run xcelit logout, then xcelit init.
“My project page looks empty”
Run xcelit sync, then reload your project page. If it still looks wrong, run xcelit status and check you're connected to the project you expect.
“You’re not a member of this project”
Ask the project owner to add you to the team, then run the command again.
